Accountability Tracker

Every commitment, and the public record that proves it.

I'm one vote at the council table, so I won't promise to fix everything alone. Instead, here is exactly what I'll do as a councillor, and how you can check it.

Once in office, each council action will link to the minutes and recorded votes. You never have to take my word for it.

Publish permit, licence and application processing times online by type, reported quarterly against service standards. Every other permitting fix depends on knowing this number.

Bring the fee schedule back in line with what processing actually costs, as digitization brings that cost down. You can't price a service you haven't measured.

Send every household a plain-language breakdown of where their taxes go, once a year. Port Coquitlam already does this. There is no reason we can't.

Recorded vote, when it returns

Bring us back in line with the law by adopting the Province's small-scale housing rules. We have to play the cards we're dealt, so let's shape zoning that fits our community instead of waiting for the Province to decide for us.

Change log

What has changed

The date, what changed, and why. Earlier wording stays on the record.

· Commitment

Bear Transparency Record added

Added a commitment to work toward a public Bear Transparency Record, a log of bears killed in the District, building on my answer to a candidate pledge.

Read the full details
What changed
  • New commitment in Priority 5: ask staff about current bear reporting and freedom of information limits, meet with the Conservation Officer Service, then bring a motion for a public Bear Transparency Record.
  • The wildlife coexistence commitment no longer mentions public reporting, since the new commitment covers it in more detail.
· Update

Commitments grew from 15 to 35

My commitments grew from 15 to 35, adding positions I've already taken in questionnaires and at the door. Every action is now labelled by how I'll deliver it and tracked here, so you can see exactly where each one stands.

Read the full details
What changed
  • Grew from 15 unique commitments to 35, with 20 new ones added across all five sections. Most are positions I'd already taken in writing in candidate questionnaires.
  • Section 2 previously repeated three actions from Section 1. Those repeats are gone, replaced with housing commitments: adopting the Province's small-scale housing rules, protections for renters displaced by redevelopment, standards for supportive housing and a position on data centres.
  • The plain-language tax breakdown is now a motion, upgraded from "at the table."
  • Spirit Trail: updated the wording to focus on what's actually holding it up. The main obstacle is a funding gap on the McCartney Creek bridge, which every route option needs, along with a route that still isn't settled. The commitment now targets both, and adds exploring a segmented approach to keep the project moving.
  • Rec centres: updated to work through the District's capital plan, which is where renewal of District facilities is funded. The commitment now covers all our aging rec centres, with Karen Magnussen as the priority.
  • Some commitments now start with a question and lead to a motion if the answer calls for one, since new staff work needs a majority of council to approve it.
  • The question about what each permit costs to process is now part of the fee schedule motion in Section 1, so it appears once instead of twice.
  • The question on town centre capacity moved from Section 4 to Section 2, where it fits with housing growth.
  • Each action is now labelled by how I'll deliver it: a motion, a recorded vote, a budget push, a question asked, work at the table or a published record. Every one is tracked here.
  • Descriptions were tightened for plain language.
Why

Over the campaign I've answered questionnaires from community groups and heard from residents at the door. If I've said it in writing somewhere, it belongs on the commitments page, where you can hold me to it. I also reviewed each commitment to make sure it matches how council actually works.

· Tracker

Accountability Tracker and change log go live

Every commitment now has a public home: this tracker lists all 35 with where each one stands, and this change log records each update as it happens. Nothing on this page reports a council action.

· Launch

Commitments page goes live

My commitments went public: 15 of them in writing, across five sections, each with the action behind it. Everything on the page was pending election, and the record has only grown since.

Read the full details
What changed
  • The page launched with 15 commitments across the same five sections still used today, from easing the cost of living through to gathering places worth investing in.
  • Each commitment came with the specific action behind it, so the commitment and what I'd do about it sat together on the page.
  • The page pointed to an Accountability Tracker that was still under construction at the time. That tracker is the page you're reading now.
  • Nothing on the page claimed a council action. Every item was something I'd do if elected, and that's still true.
Why

Voters should be able to see what I've promised before they decide, and check it afterwards. Putting it in writing before the election means the record starts then, not after.
